India's Modi lashes out at Pakistan, Pakistan hits back

Modi's statement on the issue is likely to garner global focus on the bloody conflict- something that has lacked in the past due to the huge threat faced by journalists trying to report from the region.

"In the garb of curbing terrorist activities, India itself is committing state terrorism in held Kashmir by arresting, injuring and killing innocent people", she said.

Both countries claim Kashmir in full.

"India and others in the region have already received enough of Pakistan's trademark exports - worldwide terrorism, cross-border infiltrators, weapons, narcotics and fake currency", External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Vikas Swarup said.

His speech, while it tactfully avoided hurling any major attacks on the opposition, speaking on recent national controversial issues, or covering the worldwide facet of his governance, did not ignore the opportunity to raise the issues pertaining to Pakistan.

Now Pakistan may say that since India is taking about Balochistan, which is an integral part of that country, they have the right to talk about Kashmir.

Pakistan's Foreign Policy Advisor Sartaj Aziz said, "The contrast between the Indian Kashmir and the Azad Jammu and Kashmir could not be more stark". He thanked the Indian PM for his remark that Pakistan will have to answer to the world for the atrocities being committed against the people in Balochistan.

BJP on Tuesday targeted Congress alleging that some of its leaders are "seen offering support to Pakistan" after Prime Minister Narendra Modi brought up Balochistan and PoK in his Independence Day speech and said it's a sad commentary that it is divided on issues of national interests.

Anti-India feelings run strong in Muslim-majority Indian-Kashmir, where most people favor independence or a merger with Pakistan.

The move comes as relations between Pakistan and India remain strained a day after ceasefire violations along the Line of Control on Aug 14, and Pakistan's High Commissioner to New Delhi Abdul Basit's comments dedicating Independence Day to the freedom of Kashmiris.

New Delhi in turn accused Islamabad of exporting "international terrorism, cross-border infiltrators, weapons, narcotic and fake currency".

Responding to his remarks, Pakistan said his references to Balochistan and PoK were an attempt to divert world attention from the "grim tragedy" that has been unfolding in Jammu and Kashmir.

Having found solid backing in the form of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, leaders of the Baloch nationalist movement have now sought support from the U.S. and European countries against the oppressive Pakistani regime.

"India and others in the region have already received enough of Pakistan's trademark exports - worldwide terrorism, he said". But look at the other side where terrorism is glorified, ” Modi said. He also suggested that the particular mention of Balochistan may ruin the Indian government's case on what is referred to as "Pakistan occupied Kashmir" by most Indians.
