Samsung's Note 7 Recall Is Official, Now Comes the Hard Part

Samsung's Note 7 Recall Is Official, Now Comes the Hard Part

Samsung's statements left many customers confused, said Tuong Nguyen, a tech industry analyst with Gartner, "and that might have an impact on overall consumer confidence, especially since we're talking about a high-end device, their flagship phone".

Safety regulators have ordered a formal recall of Samsung Galaxy Note 7s after dozens of devices exploded or caught fire.

Now that Samsung Electronics Co.'s recall of the explosion-prone Galaxy Note 7 smartphone is official in the US, the company can start focusing on the tough job of restoring public trust. The company said on Sunday it sold shares in four companies including ASML Holding NV and Seagate Technology Plc to free up money for additional investments for its core businesses, Reuters reported on Sunday.

For consumers who have purchased their devices through Best Buy, there are notable details that could determine when you get your replacement, being that Best Buy is informing customers that replacements are first come first serve, meaning that you'll want to go in as soon as possible to receive a new, and safe unit. The FAA previously "strongly advised" against passengers bringing the Note 7 onto airplanes, but now that the phone has been officially recalled, the FAA straight up says that consumers cannot turn on or charge the Note 7 on a plane.

It is hard to remember a recall of magnitude from a consumer electronics company in the past and no doubt that Samsung was caught off guard, but one can not help but feel that Samsung is missing a trick by being extremely vague to its customers.

Today we will talk about Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime, a device that comes with some pretty good specifications and a decent price.

The article was posted on the magazine's website on Friday, a day after the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) officially recalled the smartphone due to a battery problem.

Customers who bought a Note 7 before September 15 should immediately stop using and turn off their phones, the CPSC said. As a result, the Note 7 was banned from airports and airlines. In fact, Galaxy Note 7 usage rates remained stable despite the recall. Samsung stressed that these particular devices would not need replacing and "can be used with confidence".

The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 was supposed to be the next jewel in the South Korean company's line of Android smartphones, one touted for its bigger battery that could power the phone for an impressive nine hours. The issue affects a select number of Note 7 handsets with a specific type of battery inside.
