Alleged beer-throwing Blue Jays fan turns himself in

Lawyer Tyler Smith said Pagan was charged upon entering the station with one count of mischief for the incident Tuesday during the Blue Jays-Orioles wild card game.

But late on Wednesday night, a man who said he was the person in the photo came forward and suggested the authorities may have got things wrong. A video seen by The Associated Press appears to show Pagan throwing it.

"We are confident we have made a positive ID", Const. Jenifferjit Sidhu said Thursday.

After Jays DH Melvin Upton Jr. hit deep to the outfield, Hyun Soo Kim caught the ball when a beer can flew out of the stands from the 100 Level outfield seats and narrowly missed him.

Police sources had previously said that investigators had "clear and convincing evidence" tying the man to the incident, including surveillance camera footage from inside the stadium.

While Kim looked stunned teammate center fielder Adam Jones angrily gestured towards the howling crowd while police rushed into the section.

Pagan told the Toronto Sun on Wednesday he was misidentified, but he is cooperating with the police investigation after turning himself in.
