Giants WR Odell Beckham fined $24309 for taunting penalty

Giants WR Odell Beckham fined $24309 for taunting penalty

"We looked at the possibility of '22, '23 in that area".

The Giants receiver faces a $24,309 fine for unsportsmanlike conduct arising from the incident on the sideline with Vikings cornerback Xavier Rhodes. Odell Beckham might not be such a big fan of the number right now, though.

Beckham said repeatedly Thursday he can only control what he can control.

Rhodes helped limit Beckham to a career-low three receptions for 23 yards on Monday night. It would be one thing if he was producing at an elite level, but 303 yards, zero touchdowns, and a few key dropped passes late in games just won't cut it. Teams have made it an even higher priority to blanket Beckham, and, as a bonus, have rattled him. You have to understand that. McAdoo snapped back at that assertion. The NFL runs like the military: if procedure is not followed, chaos is probably around the corner.

Now, Beckham really has to keep his cool.

Beckham has since gone on to be an NFL superstar, and is considered to be one of the best receivers in all of football. I'm exhausted of making excuses for him. That's when he plays at his best. I just want to compete.

After the game, OBJ implied the refs had an implicit bias against him because of his past.

Bryant could miss two more games before returning, though the Cowboys list him as day-to-day. It's not fun to lose games. We just want to see him under control, we think he's hurting the team. Thirty miles to the west of the Giants' practice compound, New York Jets wide receiver Brandon Marshall was asked about Beckham being criticized Tuesday, rather gently, by McAdoo and Manning.

"Honestly, as amusing as it sounds, that's really all I care about, just being able to have that ability to be a blessing to someone else", he said. "If they need those types of tricks, then OK, so be it".

According to SB Nation's Thomas George, multiple Giants coaches said that the team is considering suspending him if he can not control his emotions on the field - a drastic step, to be sure.

"All discussions between Odell and I, they stay private between ourselves", the first-year head coach said. That's not good for them, the coach coming out and saying, 'He needs to do this.' No, that's the wrong way.

The bottom line: you have to respect kicking nets on the playing field.

The excessive nature of the fine comes because Beckham Jr.is considered a "repeat offender" by the NFL. He's already been involved in discussions on sports values and maintaining respect on the playing field - issues he plans to bring back to NY and to the Giants. I'm watching his actions. For those not interested in the second Presidential Debate, tune to the Giants-Packers game.

Odell Beckham Jr. does not play for the Tigers anymore, and when people thing of him, "former LSU receiver" is not something that is often brought up.

According to a report from ESPN's Ed Werder, the opposite is the case. He seemed defensive. He seemed unmoved by the criticism about his inability to maintain his composure in his first matchup against Norman since last season. Beckham Jr. has been in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons recently. He is now a leader and needs to act like one. He can do something with it. "If they feel that that's a good strategy, then you may see it".

This cuts against the theory that the officials and/or the league are out to get Beckham. "But he plays the game with passion and sometimes he goes a little too far".
