Federal Bureau of Investigation arrests man planning attacks in Myrtle Beach

He also criticized fellow white supremacists for failing to take action, writing that they 'ain't got the heart to fight for Yahweh like dylann roof, ' the white supremacist who gunned down nine parishioners at a SC black church in 2015.

The feds said McDowell bought a.40 caliber Glock and hollow point ammunition from the undercover agent on Wednesday.

He appeared in federal court on a charge of felon in possession of a firearm or ammunition.

The affidavit said the two met as planned and the agent provided McDowell the handgun, which had its firing pin shaved down as to make it inoperative.

Benjamin Thomas Samuel McDowell, 29, told the Federal Bureau of Investigation employee he wanted to do something on a "big scale" and then write on the building he had targeted, "In the spirit of Dylann Roof".

"I got the heart to do that sh*t, but I don't have to the good training", he allegedly said.

In another conversation, McDowell said "I just be plotting it out, like, I mean you just run up there on them if they back there partying, and all, with a f****** AK and rip them sumbitches down, and throw, a damn, something at them".

"Dylann roof did what these tattoos wearing so badass is supposed to be doing they don't give a (expletive) about their white race", McDowell wrote on Facebook on January 5, according to the complaint. "I want something where I can say, "I fucking did that".me personally".

In one anti-Semitic social media message posted in Jan., McDowell referenced Roof, writing "you want to post if you ain't got the heart to fight for Yahweh like dylann roof did you need to shut the f-- up..." Those proceedings ended with Roof receiving a death sentence for killing nine black worshipers inside the historic church on June 17, 2015.

McDowell has recently been ranting on the internet about desires to perpetrate an attack. He has multiple convictions for burglary, and has also been convicted of assault of a high and aggravated nature, petty larceny, third-degree assault and malicious injury to property, according to State Law Enforcement Division records. The Horry County Police Department told the FBI that McDowell had "established White Supremacy Extremist connections while serving prison sentences in SC for various criminal offenses", according to an affidavit from FBI Special Agent Grant Lowe that was filed in federal court. He followed that January 5 with a post slamming those who failed to care about their white race like Roof did.

On Jan. 5, McDowell posted, "All they wanne do is stay loaded on drugs the Jews put here to destory white man and they fest on the drugs", [sic] according to the complaint.

The next day, he wrote on Facebook that he wanted an "iron", a term for a gun.

McDowell first met with the undercover Federal Bureau of Investigation agent on January 12, believing that the agent "handled problems for the Aryan Nations", the court document states.

While McDowell didn't tell the agent about any specific building that he wanted to attack, he did post a link to the synagogue's website on Facebook in late December, which led officers to believe that it was a prime potential target.
