Tiffany Trump thanks Whoopi Goldberg for defending her from fashion-week snubs

Tiffany Trump thanks Whoopi Goldberg for defending her from fashion-week snubs

Since New York Fashion Week began on February 9, Tiffany Trump has been spotted front and center at shows for Taoray Wang, Philipp Plein, Dennis Basso, and, most recently, Vivienne Tam, a hefty list for someone whose last name has spurred outright rebellion in many designers this season. Goldberg added that refusing to sit by Tiffany Trump-and then publicizing it-is different than boycotting Ivanka Trump's fashion line, since money is involved in the latter venture.

Philipp Plein, the designer who hosted the show where Tiffany was singled out, has also since spoken out in her defense, saying, "Tiffany Trump is not a politician", and that "it's not right to treat someone without respect because she is the daughter of somebody people don't like".

Christina Binkley, a former Wall Street Journal columnist, tweeted the empty seats around Tiffany, while Elle's senior fashion editor, Nikki Ogunnaike, tweeted about the chaos backstage. "Nobody's talking politics... you're looking at fashion. She doesn't want to talk about her dad - she's looking at the fashion!" You're buying stuff. This girl is looking at fashion.

Others warned Trump not to go on "The View", speculating that Goldberg was trying to "trap" her.

"That's all about buying stuff", Ms. Goldberg said.

Tiffany Trump has since Tweeted about the exchange, gladly accepting Goldberg's offer.

Tiffany Trump's New York Fashion Week visit has got Trump supporters and Trump critics upset. "I don't know what's gonna happen, but I'm coming to sit with you", Ms. Goldberg, an outspoken opponent of President Trump, said on Wednesday's "The View". "I just thought it was mean", she explained. "I'll find your a- and sit next to you".

Among all of President Trump's grown children, Tiffany has been the most removed from politics at the White House.
