Two Planes Collide at Phoenix Airport

Two Planes Collide at Phoenix Airport

A Frontier Airlines plane bound for Denver from Phoenix never took off on Thursday night because it clipped wings with another aircraft.

A PHX spokesperson told ATW that the two aircraft "clipped wing tips on a taxiway" at around 8 p.m. local time February 16.

The Federal Aviation Administration said Friday it is investigating the collision, but National Transportation Safety Agency spokesman Terry Williams said that agency isn't investigating because damage was "very, very limited".

Frontier Flight 765, an Airbus A320, scheduled to operate from Phoenix to Denver was cleared to push back from the gate in Phoenix.

The Fire Department says there was a fuel leak due to the collision outside Terminal Three.

Two planes clipped wings while taxiing at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, delaying passengers but causing no injuries.

Airport officials told KPNX that no injuries were reported.

Crews on scene reportedly determined that there was a fuel leak, as a result.

Megan Whor was on the Southwest Airlines flight. The Southwest aircraft was taxiing after landing and the Frontier aircraft was pushing back from its gate when the incident occurred. Samuels said she couldn't immediately say how and where the Southwest passengers got off the plane.

Southwest's statement said Denver-bound passengers on its plane "were accommodated on another aircraft, and arrived approximately an hour late".
