JJ Abrams, Stephen King come together for limited series

Castle Rock becomes the latest King-Abrams drama at Hulu following 11.22.63. They have released a teaser trailer for the show that has already been viewed more than one million times since it was released on Friday, Feb. 17. But if there's anything King is great at, it is creating an overarching, interconnected world, something that he did with great skill in The Dark Tower series, which was able to connect nearly all of his works into one grand meta-narrative that even included his own life.

For the uninitiated, Castle Rock is the setting of Cujo, Needful Things, The Dead Zone, Doctor Sleep (the 2o14 sequel to The Shining), and short-story "The Body" which became the movie Stand By Me - just to name a few.

Other upcoming Hulu series include the first season of 'National Treasure' on March 1, 'The Handmaid's Tale' on April 26, Marvel's 'Runaways,' a reimagining of 'Foxy Brown' starring Meagan Good, and 'Future Man' from executive producers Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Matt Tolmach, and James Weaver. The series will stream exclusively in the USA on Hulu and Warner Bros.

Stephen King is one of the world's most successful writers, having published more than 50 books in an illustrious career spanning more than 40 years. Shaw created the show and served as an executive producer/writer; Thomason also served as an executive producer/writer. Two feature films based on King's books are scheduled to be released in 2017, The Dark Towerand IT.

Abrams' Bad Robot Productions made the announcement via the teaser above.

Abrams company called Bad Robot posted a not-so cryptic post on Twitter, with an image of his letter pad with text "WHAT IS THE HOAX IN THE FOREST?" followed by a link. Abrams are teaming up again at Hulu to poke around a place familiar to King fans.
