BSSC: Commission chief, four relatives arrested in paper leak case

The SSP said, five relatives of the Chairman were appearing in the examination.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Bihar Police today arrested the state's Staff Selection Commission Chairman (SSC) from Jharkhand in connection with a question paper leak case. Sources said SIT was no satisfied by his reply.

"More than 13,000 posts of clerks and other low level jobs in the government have to be filled through the BSSC test".

Earlier, the state government cancelled the clerical examination conducted by the Bihar Staff Selection Commission (BSSC) after reports of question paper leak.

The IAS association have protested Sudhir Kumar's arrest and chose to meet Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar over the matter. Earlier, BSSC secretary Parmeshwar Ram was arrested and sent to jail in the same case.

Kumar had told reporters, soon after the scam was unearthed, that nearly all the appointments in state government, exams of which was conducted by BSSC, were done through favouritism and recommendation. The SIT team has also arrested owner of the printing press from Ahmedabad where question papers were printed.

Asked if the questions and answers were leaked to the relatives of the IAS officer, Maharaj said the possibility could not be ruled out. "The association will fight for Kumar, who is a sincere, honest and competent officer".

Secretary of the Bihar branch of the IAS Officers' Association, Vivek Singh, has expressed the officers' concerns to the Bihar Chief Secretary and also sought time from the Chief Minister.

Twenty-nine people have been arrested in connection with the paper leak.
