Top House Intel Dem says Federal Bureau of Investigation not forthcoming on Trump-Russia ties

The White House contends that Federal Bureau of Investigation deputy director Andrew McCabe told White House chief of staff Reince Priebus on February 15, the day after the Times piece was published, that the article was "bullshit".

Coats is certain to be asked at his Senate confirmation hearing about Russia's interference in the 2016 presidential race, alleged contacts between Trump's campaign and Russian authorities, and the president's harsh criticism of us intelligence agencies.

"Russia's assertiveness in global affairs is something I look upon with great concern, which we need to address with eyes wide open and a health degree of skepticism", former Senator Dan Coats, Trump's nominee to be director of national intelligence, told his confirmation hearing before the Senate Intelligence Committee. But Collins was critical of Trump for reportedly shuffling membership on the National Security Council's principals committee so that it will include White House chief strategist Steve Bannon and not Coats.

The Obama administration's intelligence-sharing effort involved the White House, intelligence agencies and State Department, The Times reports. Officials began asking specific questions during intelligence briefings, knowing the answers would be archived and made available to investigators.

There remains no solid evidence to believe President Trump is being controlled by Russian Federation or is "Putin's Puppet", a talking point that initially emerged from the Hillary Clinton campaign. He has also stated that the media is responsible for "fake news". He brushed aside questions about whether Burr had lost credibility by seeking to defend the White House against the allegations that his committee is investigating.

The scheme would seem to lend support to Trump's claims that the Obama White House sought to undermine his presidency by leaking classified information.

"Russia would like Libya to once again become a full-fledged state after a barbarous foreign interference in this its internal affairs which led to disastrous consequences as far as the existence of the Libyan state and the future of the Libyan people go", Peskov said. In terms of him being behind things, that's politics. He alleged on Tuesday with Fox News that Obama was behind the various leaks and even the protests that have been hurting the Trump administration.

OPINION: Why is Russian Federation so happy with Trump?

Democrats have called for an independent investigation following reports that Nunes and Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Richard Burr reached out to reporters regarding Russian Federation on behalf of the White House. American intelligence agencies also intercepted communications of the Russian officials "discussing contacts with Mr. Trump's associates".

The report says information came from multiple USA allies, including Britain and the Netherlands, describing meetings between Russian officials and Trump associates that took place in European cities.

He also said he would adhere to USA laws banning torture and ending the use of secret offshore prisons to detain and interrogate terror suspects.

This was not the only bombshell from The Times' report. This made whatever source they used to be either something they hacked into themselves or from someone with access to key information.

Collins was also one of several committee members expressing alarm that Coats might not have a permanent seat on the principals committee of the National Security Council, citing the president's January 28 executive order that appeared to downgrade the director of national intelligence to an as-needed status, while including White House strategist Stephen Bannon in all meetings - an unprecedented addition. "There continues to be no there, there", he told the newspaper.
