Hawaiian Airlines Flight Diverted Over Cost Of A Blanket

Hawaiian Airlines Flight Diverted Over Cost Of A Blanket

A passenger had asked for the wrap because he was cold, and was outraged when he was asked to pay $12 (£9.80). The man insisted he should not have to pay because it was cold on the plane.

A Hawaiian Airlines flight from Las Vegas to Honolulu was diverted Wednesday after a passenger got upset over being charged for a blanket, police said.

Airline officials then ordered the flight diverted to Los Angeles International Airport for an "unruly passenger".

According to the Los Angeles Times, the man was removed from the plane but police on the ground determined there was no criminal threat.

So he asked to speak with the airline's corporate office.

Airport officers met the aircraft at the gate and conducted an investigation with the FBI. "I'm going to call the president".

Hawaiian Airlines spokeswoman Alison Croyle said, "We don't know the demeanor of the passenger, what was said, or the tone".

But one passenger, who was sat across the aisle from the man, was told by staff the man had threatened the pilot. "Our crew felt it was necessary to divert to Los Angeles and deplane the passenger before beginning to fly over the Pacific Ocean", says the airline in a statement.

Croyle said the airline offers complimentary blankets in all cabins on worldwide flights and on certain red-eye flights.

George Enriques, a Maui-bound passenger aboard Hawaiian Airlines flight 7, was sitting across the aisle from the elderly, male passenger in seat 42A who was escorted off of the plane. The flight to Hawaii also continued its journey.
