Indonesian man swallowed by python, villagers and reports say

Akbar Salubiro, 25, had not been seen since 26 March when he left his home in a remote village on Sulawesi Island, Indonesia.

Police cut the snake open and unfortunately, their suspicions were correct.

A day later, when the police conducted a search they found a python had sprawled out in Akbar's garden, the BBC noted.

Snake expert Nia Kurniawan from Indonesia's Brawijaya University, told BBC Indonesia that pythons are sensitive to vibrations, noise and heat from lamps, so they normally avoid human settlements.

A large crowd gathered round the snake as one man started slicing it open.

According to the Saint Louis Zoo, reticulated pythons, which are native to Southeastern Asia, can grow to be 33 feet in length, but most average between 17 and 22 feet.

A missing man has reportedly been found dead inside the stomach of a reticulated python.

Local media reports suggested that Akbar's boots were clearly visible in the python's stomach. "It seems he was attacked from behind, because we found a wound on his back".

Locals used a 45 centimetre hunting knife to slice open the serpent and found Salubiro's body inside.

Inside, they found the lifeless body of the missing father of two.

In the 1990s, a python was discovered in the same area, but nobody had ever been swallowed by a snake before, Junaidi observed. The 4.5-metre (15ft) python strangled the victim to death. The animal's stomach has very strong acids in it that slowly digest its food, which means when it has swallowed a large item of prey, it must rest for several days.
