Home intruder shot dead while taking a shower

Bruce Fanning, 59, faced a Mason County judge Monday afternoon after court documents say he admitted to police to shooting and killing a man he found showering inside his property.

Chief Criminal Deputy Ryan Spurling of the Mason County Sheriff's Office told The Olympian that Rosa had been staying at a nearby residence.

Police say the homeowner, a man, found a screen taken off a window on his property and then noticed a door had been kicked in. The victim was shot multiple times with a handgun before Fanning called the police. He entered his business on Saturday morning to find that a break-in had occurred and that the intruder was in the bathroom taking a shower, the sheriff's office said. The arrest has already led to some internet controversy, with many discussing whether a second-degree murder charge was appropriate.

The homeowner called 911 and said that he had shot and killed an intruder, Adams told KOMO.

According to the sheriff's office, Fanning spoke to Rosa, who, according to Fanning, appeared to be drunk.

'There is more to the story that cannot be released yet.

"He was a great uncle, he is a great uncle", said Christa Farster, who said she is Fanning's niece.

Lt. Travis Adams of the Mason County Sheriff's Office said that "other than an exchange of words, there was no indication that Mr".

A magistrate set Fanning's bail at $250,000 and scheduled the man's court appearance on Monday.

'Rest in piece Nathaniel Rosa.

Todd Maybrown, a criminal defense lawyer in Washington, told the New York Times 'it's kind of the wild west out here, in a way'. "Fanning could not explain why he didn't call 911 prior to returning to his place of business".

Maybrown told the Times that Washington's law doesn't impose a duty to retreat, but a person defending himself is barred from using 'more force than necessary'.
