Human remains found in Missouri identified as missing woman

Kansas City Police Department is now investigating the case as a homicide, the sheriff's office said.

The remains of the second person discovered about 20 miles away from Kansas City have not yet been identified, police said.

Almost 10 years earlier, Yust had been seen with Kopetsky multiple times in the months leading up to her disappearance. Before she vanished, she had tried to end a volatile on-again, off-again relationship with Kylr Yust, a man with a violent criminal history who is a person of interest in the disappearance of both women.

Her torched SUV was found days after she disappeared in south Kansas City, not far from her last known whereabouts. Runions, of Raymore, Missouri, was last seen leaving a party with a man on September 8, and her burned out sport-utility vehicle was found near a Kansas City underpass two days later. He said identification could take quite awhile. Beckford says she believes the second set belongs to Kara but was told it could take up to a year to make a positive identification. We're still just waiting'. And I'm just gonna come out and tell you right here and now, in my heart of hearts, I believe it's Kara.

Investigators discovered remains from two humans in the same rural area of western Missouri and police asked the families of two missing women to meet with investigators, although the remains have not been positively identified.

"Based on the remains recovered, the age, sex (and) race have not been determined", police said in a news release. She was last seen leaving her high school. He is set to face trial in October. The host of that party told her family she left with Yust. I'm glad they were together'. She had walked to school and even called her mom when she got there, saying she had forgotten a textbook.

Yust, 28, has not been charged in connection with either disappearance.

Runion, of Raymore, Mo., has been missing since September of 2016.

"She knows that if she's having a bad day that she can call us, and our phone is always open and we're always going to answer", Rhonda Beckford told The Star hours before Runions' remains were identified. Her father, John Runions, had to be held back as Yust walked in. "The only thing I can say is we're nearly there".
