Leaders Chelsea maintain 7-point gap over Spurs

Leaders Chelsea maintain 7-point gap over Spurs

Before the Blues kicked off on the south coast, Tottenham Hotspur beat Watford 4-0 to move to within four points of leaders Chelsea.

Chelsea's shock loss at home to Palace earlier this month saw the Conte's side stumble ever so slightly, but it remains well on track to clinch the title.

Chelsea delivered the ideal response to Tottenham Hotspur by winning 3-1 at Bournemouth on Saturday to restore their seven-point lead at the top of the Premier League table.

"And as good as Spurs are, Chelsea are so impressive and the job that Antonio Conte has done this season is remarkable bringing this squad together".

"I'm not feeling anything other than we need to win some more games". They scored one goal, but after half-time we did well and controlled the game. I'm very happy to face this type of situation, to play with only four points above our opponent. If I don't see pressure, I put pressure. "Our reaction, our answer was very good". This would enable City to shift over and for Sane to press Zouma whilst approaching at an angle from a central position, forcing the pass to go to the wing back.

For all the control that City exerted over the game, Chelsea's efficiency in attack means that they were the ones who left with all three points, and possibly with one hand on the Premier League trophy. We scored three good goals and we deserved to win.

Chelsea keep their seven-point gap atop the Premier League, but does Janusz Michallik think Tottenham can catch them? Whether he returns to Los Rojiblancos after the end of the season could depend on whether their current first-choice striker Antoine Griezmann remains at the club amid interest from a host of Europe's top sides.

"Chelsea are an outstanding team and their system works very well for them", said Howe.

The Belgian playmaker was named PFA Player of the Year after helping to inspire Premier League glory in 2014-15.

Diego Costa has now gone five Chelsea matches without a goal but it was his shot that Smith deflected in and he went close twice more. The Toffees have proven to be a formidable force at Goodison Park this season and have won their last seven consecutive games at home in the league. "He must continue to work in this way with great desire and work-rate and I'm sure he can score in every game".

"The team deserve full credit because the energy and the way they played was fantastic".

Prior to that, Benik Afobe struck the woodwork with a lovely first-time volley from a Charlie Daniels cross - the ball squirted across the goal-line after rebounding off Courtois but harmlessly went out for an incorrectly-awarded goal-kick. Diego Costa is not actually playing that well at the moment, but they are still winning.
