Nintendo SNES Mini Already In Development, Release Date Expected Around Christmas

Nintendo SNES Mini Already In Development, Release Date Expected Around Christmas

Nintendo stopped manufacturing the incredibly popular diminutive NES, as it was never meant to be a perpetually available product. The console was just supposed to be a nostalgic novelty of sorts, and it proved to be the ultimate holiday gift past year, selling out in seconds.

A new rumbling is happening on the web and it's about another retro console making a comeback.

Eurogamer reports that Nintendo didn't increase production of the NES Classic because it had plans for the mini SNES waiting in the wings. If it does, I suspect no one will pause for thought before pre-ordering one just in case Nintendo makes the same production mistakes all over again.

A source of Eurogamer.net very close to the house of Kyoto has confirmed that Nintendo is now working on "Mini" version of the Super Nintendo, arriving in stores later this year, just in time for the holiday season.

Nintendo is set to follow up the phenomenon of the Classic NES Mini with a SNES Mini. Some might also be hoping for the company to include support for its Virtual Console, which allows users to purchase, download, and play additional classic games.

Gamers should be very excited to hear this news as the SNES was a console with much better games. We got this signal past year with the NES, and now we're receiving it again with the upcoming SNES.

Had Nintendo known how massive of a hit the NES Classic Edition would become, the company might have produced and shipped more units.

The NES Classic has been very hard to find in stores and online since its reemergence in November past year.

Nintendo is reportedly now working on a mini version of its SNES console to launch in time for Christmas this year.

Nintendo will continue with that strategy, slowly releasing blockbuster games over the next few months.

Luckily, those who didn't score a mini NES haven't lost all luck.
