Opera's nifty new browser caters for WhatsApp and Messenger addicts

Opera's nifty new browser caters for WhatsApp and Messenger addicts

Other browsers now force users to switch to a different tab or browser window to communicate via the various social messaging apps. The messenger shortcuts will sit on browser's sidebar and you can also pin the messenger tab for even easier multitasking.

The Reborn update is an attempt at bringing some of the best ideas from Neon into Opera, and thus, intriguingly, the browser is now capable of pinning WhatsApp, Telegram, and Facebook Messenger in its sidebar. "We believe this needs to change", says Opera. While switching between the tabs to use different messengers can often prove to be a cumbersome task, Opera's Reborn beta build aims to ease up the process by allowing users to "chat side-by-side as they browse". These services are available from a new sidebar and can work as overlays or side-by-side with the current tab.

With Reborn, Opera is finally bringing a dark theme to its browser just like Microsoft Edge in Windows 10.

But more importantly, Reborn includes some security and performance features, too. Reborn UI The new look was first introduced back in February with the release of Opera's experimental "Neon" browser.

With the latest update, you can open the messengers whenever you want and pin them, so conversations do not interfere with whatever you are working on.

Other changes in Opera Reborn include new icons and animations in private mode.

Opera may be the underdog of the browser world, but it continues to fight hard, adding interesting new features to try and win over users. The feature does make the interface slightly busier than before, but it does allow Opera to differentiate its browser from the competition. As Ars Technica points out, Opera's ad-blocking tool automatically whitelists four sites: Facebook, Google, Baidu, and Yandex.
