Refueling: Ducks try to rest up for feisty Predators

Refueling: Ducks try to rest up for feisty Predators

The Predators had fought their way back and forced overtime after trailing 2-0 thanks to goals from Subban and Filip Forsberg.

Anaheim is now down in the series two games to one.

And so a postseason journey that has been totally lacking in momentum or logic for the Ducks lurched back to home to Anaheim, for Game 5 on Saturday.

Playing the Nashville Predators inside the NHL's toughest arena in almost 20 years sure isn't helping. Nashville is 6-0 in the postseason at Bridgestone and has won 10 consecutive playoff games at home.

Eastern Conference finals: Penguins at Senators, Game 4, 8 p.m. ET, NBCSN (Senators lead 2-1) - The Penguins' defense and goalie Marc-Andre Fleury disappeared early in Game 3, giving up an astounding four goals in the game's first 13 minutes.

ISLANDERS: New York hired Luke Richardson as an assistant on Doug Weight's staff and confirmed that assistant Bob Corkum, a former player at the University of ME, won't be back. Nashville trailed in seven of those contests. But you've got to give Anaheim credit. Nashville resident Kelly Clarkson showed off her impressive pipes with her rendition of "The Star Spangled Banner", making her the first non-country anthem singer, and the second American Idol victor to take on the task. Keith Urban, Luke Bryan and Carrie Underwood are just a few of the big names who have taken the ice in the playoffs so far.

Nashville started this past year against these very same Ducks.

One area to consider is the Predators' impotent power play, which squandered a 5-on-3 chance late in Thursday's game without even putting a shot on goal.

In the end they couldn't.

It's a game four game night in Smashvile and Pred Fever keep on growing in the Music City. Mattias Ekholm's initial shot deflected off Viktor Arvidsson in front of the Anaheim net, and Josi knocked home the rebound. "We had an opportunity in overtime and just an unlucky bounce so turn the page and get ready for next game".

The head of the Pyeongchang Olympics organizing committee said Thursday that the NHL isn't being "greedy" preventing hockey stars going to the 2018 Games and he was willing to be flexible to meet its demands. "I mean, he seems to be the guy who's always finding a way to get it done in those crucial points in games".

"I've played in loud rinks, but this one blows that away", James Neal said. "And it's just, the fans that are unbelievable. It truly is a special place to play".

The euphoria faded a short time later, though, when the Ducks got the game-winner at 10:25 of the overtime.

Ducks defenseman Cam Fowler setup the opening goal when he took advantage of a bad line change by the Predators. They are a great group who cared, were selfless and played some great hockey.
