Kanye West reportedly leaves Jay-Z's Tidal, sues for $3 million

Kanye West reportedly leaves Jay-Z's Tidal, sues for $3 million

West is now mired in a dispute with Tidal - which is owned by his longtime collaborator JAY-Z - after he left the streaming service due to disagreements over what is owed to him, according to TMZ.

After being unhappy with Tidal for a long time, Kanye claimed the company owed him $3 million and split from the music streaming service. West also says Tidal went back on a promise of additional money for exclusive music videos, which Tidal reportedly says Kanye never produced.

Kanye allegedly made the decision to walk away from Tidal about a month ago, when his lawyers sent a letter to the company claiming that his contract had been breached and therefore, terminated. Lawyers for each artist failed to find a resolution after two weeks.

According to TMZ's sources, Kanye doesn't want to enter any new exclusive album release contracts with streaming services for any of his upcoming albums.

Once the best of friends, U.S. megastars Kanye West and Jay Z have reportedly fallen out over money.

Kanye West And Jay-Z: End Of The Bromance? West had expressed grievances about Jay-Z during concerts in October and November, including telling audiences that Jay-Z did not visit him in person after West's wife, reality TV star Kim Kardashian, was robbed at gunpoint in Paris.

"We're told Kanye's beef with TIDAL is twofold", TMZ writes.

However, part of the ongoing money dispute at Tidal includes West not being able to go to another streaming service, lest he face a possible legal action.

"But this "f**k everybody" attitude ain't natural/But you ain't the same, this ain't KumbaYe (sic)/But you got hurt because you think KumbaYe/You gave him 20 million without thinking/He gave you 20 minutes on stage, f**k was he thinking?"

Beyonce's husband recently released his new album 4:44 and is allegedly targeting West in one of his tracks, which concerns the socialite big time. "/'F-k wrong with everybody?' is what you sayin' /But if everybody's crazy, you're the one that's insane". Kanye's response ... 'I'll deliver the videos when you pay me what I'm owed'. In 2015, intense speculation surrounding Tidal's performance forced Jay-Z to defend the service in a Twitter rant.
