Around 250000 Galaxy Notes Exchanged in US, Samsung Says

More than 100,000 people among owners of Samsung Electronics Co.'s Galaxy Note 7 smartphones in Korea have exchanged their devices since the company started offering replacements this week following a number of incidents of the Galaxy Note 7 phones catching fire due to a battery cell issue.

Samsung will be re-launching its flagship Galaxy Note 7 smartphone on October 7 in India, Business Standard reported on Thursday.

Samsung has issued an updated recall of the Galaxy Note 7 on Tuesday, 20 September, this in addition to the global recall issued on almost 2.5 million of the Galaxy Note 7 phones in early September. In their home country of South Korea, Samsung got out in front of the issue quickly by doing a voluntary recall.

The federal agency confirms that Samsung Galaxy Note 7 users may receive a free replacement from Samsung, the retail outlet where they bought the phone or their wireless carrier.

United Kingdom networks have yet to give official word on when they'll be restocking the phone, although it appears that Samsung is forging ahead with plans to get its flagship phone back out there as soon as possible. It received 92 reports of the batteries overheating in the USA alone, including 26 reports of burns and 55 reports of property damage, including fires in cars and a garage.

Samsung's upcoming Android 7.0 update for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge will include the company new Grace user interface and an improved Always On Display feature, according to a new report.

"What we are seeing through accounts on social media and news accounts is that there are consumers who are still using the phone", Wolfson said.

Samsung declined to comment on how many phones are being recalled in South Korea, but the firm's report to the agency dated September 2 seen by Reuters showed that 429,000 Note 7 phones had been sold prior to the recall.
