Charges filed against man accused of killing eastern Missouri police officer

A St. Louis County Police officer has died following an early morning shooting. The Chief says an 18-year-old suspect opened fire "almost immediately upon the officer's arrival", striking Snyder point blank in the face.
According to the Associated Press, Blake Snyder, 33, was shot shortly after 5 a.m. while responding to a call in the Affton, Mo. precinct. The unidentified accused shooter was shot and wounded by a second officer and was in critical but stable condition at a hospital hours after the episode occurred.
Snyder and another officer, whose name hasn't been released, were dispatched in separate cars. The St. Louis County Police Department said donations can be made to Backstoppers.
The officer, who St. Louis County Police have only described as a 33-year-old male, served the county for the past four years, Sgt. Sean McGuire told TheBlaze in an email Thursday morning. Both the officer and suspect were transported to local hospitals for "life-saving treatment". Police spokesman Benjamin Granda says the officer and suspect a. Jennifer Kunz, 56, who lives beside the home where the killing took place, said an older woman, her daughter and her 16-year-old granddaughter live there.
