Mild tremors shake Delhi-NCR

A minor natural disaster of magnitude 4.1 has reportedly struck in Delhi, National Capital Region on Saturday evening.

Reports said strong tremors were felt in Gurgaon for almost two seconds.

According to a tweet by Indian Meterological Department (IMD), the epicentre of the natural disaster was Jhajjar in Haryana.

There were no immediate reports of any casualty or damage to property.

Medium intensity quake was also reported in Nagaland's capital Kohima earlier on Saturday.

Mild tremors were also felt in Villupuram, Ulundurpet and Kallakuruchi regions in Tamil Nadu, spreading panic among the people. Jhajjar is located some 120 km from the national capital.

Earlier in the day, an quake measuring 5.7 had hit Tanzania and was felt in nearby Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda and Kenya, the US Geological Survey said. The epicentre of the 1227 GMT quake was about 25 kilometres east of the north western town of Nsunga on the border of Lake Victoria.
