Woman dies after falling from zip line ride at Delaware park

According to police, the woman fell approximately 40 feet from the Go Ape Tree Top Adventure attraction at the Lums Pond State Park.

Go Ape, the outdoor zip line attraction where a woman fell to her death Wednesday afternoon, will remain closed until investigators determined what happened. The as-yet-unidentified woman had been visiting the Go Ape Treetop Adventure attraction at the time.

The Treetop Adventure features a two-to-three hour tour through the forest canopy with zip lines, suspended obstacles and swings between platforms, according to the Go Ape website.

A 59-year-old woman died after falling roughly 40 feet from zip line ride at a DE state park on Wednesday afternoon, police said. The course spans seven acres and has five zip lines, four of which travel over Lums Pond.

Werner's daughter, Melissa Slater, posted a tribute to her mother on Facebook.

"The Go Ape company is extremely saddened by this", he said.

UK-based adventure company Go Ape runs 15 similar sites in the United States and 30 sites in Britain.

Zip line instructors, however, do patrol the course for any assistance that may be needed.

The reason for her fall is still under investigation, Delaware State Police said.

"Waivers are signed by participants to accept responsibility for following the safety rules and advice on the course and assume all risks associated with his/her participation", the company's website states.

A woman died Wednesday after falling from a zip line in Delaware, CBS Philadelphia reported.

Melissa said that she was struggling to come to terms with God's goal for the tragedy.

The Lums Pond State Park needs to evaluate whether it's worth having such a risky attraction at their location since the platform isn't safe for consumers anymore.

The Go Ape attraction opened at Lums Pond in 2013, and Davis said its equipment is regularly inspected.
