Ryan Reynolds has a blockbuster movie waiting in the wings and a marriage to one of Hollywood’s hottest stars, but the Canadian actor now has more reasons to smile — he’s the Sexiest Man Alive. The star of the upcoming Green Lantern received the annual honour from People magazine Wednesday, becoming the 25th person to be declared the sexiest of them all.
Reynolds, who was born in Vancouver, said his body doesn’t come without hard work and can easily fall off the rails. ”My body naturally wants to look like Dick Van Dyke,” the 34-year-old Reynolds told People. ”When I stop training, I turn into a skincoloured whisper.”
Reynolds, who is married to Lost in Translation star Scarlett Johansson, said he’ll take the latest accolade in stride, but it will likely add fuel to the fire for his family when it comes time for mockery. ”You just have to go with the flow,” he said. “This gives my family (ammunition) into teasing me for the rest of my life.”
In his home life with Johansson, who was recently named GQ’s Babe of the Year, Reynolds expects the new title to come into play. ”Now it’s going to be, ‘Sexiest man, take out the garbage.’ That does sound better,” Reynolds said. ”The most difficult part is going to be organically working this title into a conversation with random strangers.”
