On a truncated day, it is India who would be smiling at the end of it. Nothing went right for the Kiwis, before the start their in-form batsman - McCullum injured himself and then it went all downhill from there. India turned the screws on a struggling outfit by bowling tight lines and picking up wickets at regular intervals.
Only Ryder - who too had aggravated his strained calf muscle and McCullum, showed any sembalance of fight by stitching together a stand. Bhajji got Ryder courtesy a poor short; smacking a half tracker to cover. Stumps were called when the light was not fit for play to continue. Remember that play will start 30 minutes early i.e at 9:00 AM IST to make up for the overs lost today.
End of Day 1 - NZ: 148/7 (56.0)
