The recording shows the school teacher, identified as Karuna, walking on a busy road as the assailant, Surender Singh, accosts her from behind. CCTV footage reveals that at least a dozen people did nothing to help 21-year-old Karuna, a teacher. The accused, a resident of Rohini, owned a computer shop in Burari's Sant Nagar until previous year. He makes around Rs 8,000-Rs 10,000. After Karuna finished her BA through correspondence and got a job, she had been helping her father.

"After Karuna refused his proposal, he started following her", Nagesh said. "We demand strict punishment to the accused".

Singh had reportedly been stalking her for the past six months.
