USC Football Player Osa Masina Charged with Rape in Utah Case

USC Football Player Osa Masina Charged with Rape in Utah Case

Masina is charged with one count of rape and two counts of forcible sodomy.

No formal charges have been brought against Hill yet, but both players were suspended from the team indefinitely on Tuesday.

Masina is also under investigation for a separate sexual assault in California involving the same victim.

Masina received an email from USC's Title IX office September 9, giving him until September 12 to vacate his campus housing, according to Skordas.

That's a similar procedure to what happened to Bryce Dixon in 2015, but Dixon never faced charges from a court of law. He said bail has been set at $250,000 and that Masina plans to surrender at Salt Lake Metro County Jail on Thursday afternoon. Masina has not been charged in the California case, which allegedly occurred in Los Angeles.

Coach Clay Helton announced on August 29 that Masina had been suspended for the season-opening game.

"Based on additional information obtained by the university, Osa Masina and Don Hill have been suspended from participation with USC Athletics and the football team", USC said in a statement.

A sexual assault nurse examiner conducted an examination, according to the charging documents.

Salt Lake County prosecutors filed three felony charges Thursday against a University of Southern California football player over an alleged rape that took place in July.

The 19-year-old woman, who is only identified as "K", stated in the probable cause affidavit that she had consumed marijuana and alcohol at a party in Cottonwood Heights on July 25 and 26. The former boyfriend, a member of Arizona's football team, told police that "it did not appear she realized she was being recorded" and he "did not recall seeing any of the victim's limbs moving", according to the affidavit.

When she got home, she learned she was bleeding from her anus and had damage to the porcelain crowns on her back teeth, according to the document.

She told police she woke up later and Masina was forcing oral sex, the charges state. He was also told to vacate his campus residence by Monday evening and that he could not visit campus without prior permission and an escort, Skordas said.

Osa Chad Masina has been charged by the Salt Lake District Attorney's Office with rape and sodomy.

Masina, 19, is a native of Salt Lake City and was a five-star recruit out of Brighton High School.

According to the LAPD search warrant, police in Utah notified USC's Department of Public Safety of the allegations on August 2.
