Green Party's Stein To Appear On Conn. Ballot

Green Party's Stein To Appear On Conn. Ballot

Stein argued that because the two major party candidates, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, are historically disliked, she should be allowed a place in the presidential debates that would raise the Green party to the national stage. Stein delivered a speech, answered questions from the crowd and took a group selfie with supporters.

In Virginia's 2012 presidential general election, Johnson received 0.8 percent of the vote as the Libertarian nominee and Stein received 0.2 percent of the vote as the Green Party nominee. This was their first joint appearance since the Green Party convention in August. As of September 1, the Green Party is on 40 out of 50 state ballots, with ongoing movements to expand this number. "Things happen", Aaron Suarez, who is president of Capital University Greens Student Organization, told The Columbus Dispatch. She added, "I wish we had the resources of the other candidates". "You need not just a job, but a job with a living wage". She also lays out her plan for a "Green New Deal". Stein and Johnson agree on issues such as foreign policy and legalizing marijuana, but differ heavily on economic issues.

The 66-year-old doctor said she and running mate Ajamu Baraka, founding executive director of the U.S. Human Rights Network, are an alternative to voting "for the lesser of two evils".

"Campaign team members already at the event made it up to attendees with free pizza".

Stein has criticized the notion that she is a wasted vote. "But I have to say, Hillary's track record ... when you look at what she's done, it's absolutely terrifying", Stein said, citing the bombing in Libya and a proposed no-fly zone over Syria that she said could plunge the United States into a possible nuclear war with Russian Federation.

A Quinnipiac Poll of likely OH voters in late August also showed Dr. Stein at 3 percent support, roughly what the Green Party's gubernatorial candidate, Anita Rios, of Toledo, scored in 2014. Fair or not, incidents like these are about the only time that third party candidates get any broad mainstream media attention.

Joe DeMare, the Green party candidate for the U.S. Senate for OH, spoke ahead of Stein, focusing on wages and global warming.

But she said she still thinks she can win the election on November 8. Stein is scheduled to return to Cincinnati to speak on Sunday.

Kennedy readily acknowledged the difficulty Stein faces in getting elected. "Not the lesser evil". Stein had to make the drive from Cincinnati to Columbus.

Still, she hoped she would not be passed over by voters. Considering she called her competitors "fossil fuel-funded candidates who are continuing to fan the flames of the burning planet", it seems she has a lot of soul-searching to do. Radicals are the last people you want to owe you money.
