New Delhi, Nov 17 (PTI) Two more bodies were recovered tonight from debris of a building collapse in east Delhi, taking the death toll to 69. Rescue workers recovered the bodies of a 4-5 year-old boy first and later that of a 40-year-old woman as the rubble removal exercise neared its end.
With this, the death toll in the building collapse in Lalita Park area of Laxmi Nagar has mounted to 69, which includes 29 women. Of the total victims, 17 are children.
“The boy was brought dead at 11:55 pm while the body of the woman was brought to the hospital half an hour later,” Amit Banerjee, Medical Superintendent at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital, told PTI.
The fresh recoveries came almost 24 hours after the last body was found around midnight last night. Rescue workers fear some more bodies could be recovered as the debris clearing operations ends by tomorrow.
