“It was all Vir Sanghvi’s doing, we’re not responsible” was the underlying message as popular daily news publication Hindustan Times issued a clarification on the Nira Radia-Vir Sanghvi corruption tapes.
The HT clarification says:
“Hindustan Times would like to reiterate its steadfast adherence to a code of ethics of the highest levels and values that involve integrity, credibility and transparency in our constant endeavour to bring news and analysis that is unbiased, balanced and authentic to its readers.
…
Mr Sanghvi writes a weekly column, titled Counterpoint, in which the views he expresses, like those of our other columnists, are his own.”
Vir Sanghvi happens to be the Editorial Director of Hindustan Times which forced a panic driven public clarification from the media giant. HT isn’t the online mainstream news media outlet that has been exposed.
Group Editor of the NDTV has also featured in controversial tapes. Instead of clarifying and distancing itself from Barkha Dutt, NDTV has threatened Open Magazine (which carried the original expose) while Barkha Dutt has posted defensive updates via Twitter.
