Fair officials announced on Twitter that 1,943,719 people attended the 12-day event.
On Sunday, the State Fair only needed about 40,000 people to shatter the previous overall attendance record for 1.8 million, set in 2014. After enjoying the fair, we then traveled across Central and Western New York for a few days, having not been in the region since attending SUNY years ago.
Ideal weather conditions (not too hot, not too wet) attracted visitors in droves, with three record days set during the course of the fair - including the biggest ever single-day attendance of 260,374 set on the second Saturday.

This year's biggest crowd turned up on the Labor Day holiday Monday: 56,280.
The Fair generates approximately $100 million annually for the local economy, and employs more than 2,800 people while it is underway, the release said.
Improvements included a new main gate, more open spaces, walking paths and landscaping, additional seating and shade, a larger and newly reconfigured midway, and a new 315-site RV park.
