Coincidentally or not, MS also has the lowest sports-participation rate, with the highest in Oregon. MA ranked among the top five in the states with the lowest obesity ratings, the lowest suicide rates, the lowest number of work hours and the safest places to live. Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi, and Arkansas rounded out the bottom five.
